History of Mauston:

Mauston, the county seat of Juneau County in Wisconsin, United States, was established by Milton M. Maughs and was originally known as Maughs Town. The city’s inception was deeply rooted in Wisconsin’s early lumber industry. The Boorman House on Union Street is a testament to Mauston’s history. In 1842, a dam and sawmill were constructed in Mauston, but the city’s growth was slow until a bridge was built over the Lemonweir River in 1866. The city, which is located along the Lemonweir River, had a population of 4,347 as per the 2020 census. It is about 70 miles northwest of Madison, the state capital. The Mauston-New Lisbon Union Airport (82C) serves Mauston. This general-aviation airport is co-owned with New Lisbon. The nearest airports with commercial service are Dane County Regional Airport and La Crosse Regional Airport, both about an hour away via Interstate 90. Adding more to this, Mauston is surrounded by natural beauty, wildlife, and a plethora of outdoor activities, thanks to its location on the Lemonweir River and its proximity to Wisconsin’s second and fourth largest lakes, Petenwell and Castle Rock Lake. The city also has a rich rural history with easy access to cranberry bogs, dairy farms, apple orchards, and Amish country. Despite having a population of 4,500 and serving as the Juneau County seat and a local retail center, Mauston maintains a small-town feel. The city is a full-service municipality providing a range of services including police and fire protection, public works, water/wastewater utilities, solid waste collection, curbside recycling, a small airport, parks and recreation, planning/zoning, and more.

I wish I could express the gratitude to the manager at this storage facility. After being forced out of my home and trying to scramble to find a storage unit for my belongings, the manager, Ron, came to my rescue. Initially, I had difficulties with the answering services for KO, I didn’t receive call backs in addition to a few other challenges. I happened to run into the manager at this location and he fixed all of my problems! Ron was able to bypass the communication issues and secure a space for me without having to jump through the hoops that had been presented initially. He literally saved my “behind” when I was in a rather desperate situation. I will be a long time customer for sure! Thank you Ron!
